The 3 Colors of Love
This book addresses the NCD quality characteristic 'Loving Relationships'. It is the second book in the Natural Church Development Discipleship Series covering each of the eight essential qualities of healthy churches.
As with 3 Colors of Ministry, the book's foundations are in the Trinity. It focuses on understanding and experiencing a fully biblical concept of love based on the character of God Himself. This is summarized in the book's subtitle: 'The art of giving and receiving justice, truth and grace.'
The biblical foundations (OT and NT) are thoroughly explored in a personal and engaging way. Biblical and contemporary examples are cited. The trinitarian ("three color") compass is used as a graphical tool to convey the essence of the teaching.
Schwarz maintains that love is not only the heart of the Christian faith but the heart of church development. "The motive of church development is love, the message is love, and it is empirically demonstrable that there is no better church growth method than love."
Therefore it is essential for every believer to learn and practise these dimensions of God's love as part of their spiritual growth. As each believer does this, it stimulates a natural dynamic in the church more powerful for growth than any program or marketing technique.
Schwarz offers the unique 'Fruit of the Spirit Test' which pinpoints each believer's starting point for growth. Like the '3 Color Gift Test' in 3 Colors of Ministry, the questionnaire meets scientific standards for reliability and validity. It is followed by 20 practical exercises for individuals and the local church.
As with all his books, Schwarz writes in an engaging and humorous manner making it a thoroughly enjoyable read. By using his relaxed "first person" style, he makes readers feel as if he is addressing them personally. The writing is precise and clear, with diagrams and pictures in full colour.
